This blog is about people that get tattoos that are not their religion or lifestyle, but mostly about this one girl that i know. So i will tell u guys about this girl first, she has never once said she believes in God, or lived a life without worldly things. She smokes, drinks, does drugs, has sex with her boyfriend, party's a lot. Which i honestly don't care about, she can so whatever she wants. But this girl gets a tattoo that has the bible verse, "trust in the lord with all your heart, in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths". So naturally i asked her if she believes in God, and shes like " obviously, or else this tattoo would be pointless."
I was just confused... like who does that or acts like that. Its the exact same if some non-Asian person gets a Chinese tattoo, or any other culture that is not your own. I think that's lame and pointless, it makes you look stupid because you don't even know what ur talking about
Brittany Spears apparently got an Chinese tattoo that was supposed to mean "mystical" but i meant weird instead LOOOL, i thought that was hilarious. It just proves people don't think about what they're putting on their bodies.
In the new testament, Moses does say to not tattoo your body. But back i the mosaic times that was just to set yourself apart, like circumcision etc. But still i bet that chick didn't even know that either.
Stupid people.
I've wondered similar things myself. I would venture a guess that the people who get these tattoos do it for one of two reasons (typically speaking; there's usually an exception to the rule).
ReplyDelete1) They think it looks cool and all meaning is void from the actual tattoo. So they get a tattoo because they like the way it looks. It doesn't matter what it says.
2) They are superstitious and think that it brings them luck, or fortune, or health, or happiness. This is just as vain as the first reason for getting it.
While there isn't essentially anything wrong with aesthetics in human beings, aesthetics without meaning is useless. Just as superstition is useless because it isn't based on truth but on... a made up belief.
As believers of Christ, we have to be very careful that we do not do things that run contrary to Christ Himself. If we uselessly get tattoos as either superstition or aesthetics, we are in danger of becoming idolaters. I think we can both agree that idolizing flesh or ink or ideas is destructive to the soul. literally.
yeah i totally get what ur saying, i guess it just annyoed me that someone would get this tattoo and then claim that they believe in god but there actions and lifestyle says the complete opposite ! and she never once said that she believes in god.
